Make the comparison about your situation

The local facts stay the same. These are the pressure points and questions that matter more for this decision.

Pressure points to model

  • Paying the full healthcare bill yourself
  • No employer contribution
  • Family healthcare costs
  • Unclear alternatives to traditional insurance

Questions worth answering

  • What should I compare if I pay for healthcare myself?
  • How should a self-employed family compare monthly cost with major medical risk?
  • What changes when I leave employer coverage?
  • How could SakeOf fit alongside the other options I am comparing?

How SakeOf helps

  • Compare the membership structure with the other ways you could pay for healthcare
  • Use the calculator with your actual household
  • Ask Jordan to explain SakeOf guidelines and features using approved program knowledge

Start with the numbers you control

  • What are you paying each month now?
  • How many people need healthcare?
  • What would a major medical event need to look like financially for you to feel protected?

Use your actual household and compare total exposure, not just the monthly amount.

How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

A more practical starting point for care

SakeOf is a healthcare membership designed to help you make care decisions without making a traditional insurance-first process the only starting point. It brings together advocacy, fair-price review, selected direct-service or discount benefits, and voluntary member-to-member community funding for eligible medical expenses. Your practical first step is to identify the need: a common illness, ongoing care, a local in-person visit, or a bill that deserves a closer look.

SakeOf offers Full Service and Major Medical Only. Features depend on the membership and options you select; optional benefits must be selected, active, and eligible under their terms. Full Service combines advocacy and fair-price review with voluntary community funding for eligible expenses. Funding is not automatic: program rules, the applicable member commitment, and requested documentation matter.

Use everyday care options when they fit

Common symptoms and prescriptions

Telemedicine is designed for common, non-emergency illnesses and symptoms appropriate for a virtual visit. Provider availability, technology, clinical appropriateness, state law, and prescribing rules apply. A virtual clinician may recommend in-person follow-up, a lab, imaging, or specialty care; those are separate care steps. A prescription may be issued when clinically appropriate and legally permitted, but its cost follows the active prescription program.

The prescription benefit is designed primarily for medications commonly prescribed for acute conditions. A medication on the active formulary may be available at $0 through the participating-pharmacy process when prescribing and dispensing requirements are met. Check the current pharmacy tool before filling: the formulary, participating pharmacies, and vendor rules can change. Non-formulary medications are not automatically $0 or eligible for community sharing.

Ongoing and behavioral-health support

Virtual Primary Care may be available through the membership selection you made. Confirm that it is active and ask what the service can address. If your care calls for an in-person exam, specialist, or diagnostic service, plan for that separately and ask the provider about expected charges.

When counseling is active, support may include an initial problem assessment, supportive counseling, follow-up with the original counselor when available, crisis support, and referrals to behavioral-health plans or local community resources when more care is needed. Psychiatry, inpatient or emergency behavioral-health care, testing, residential treatment, and medication costs are not included merely because counseling is active.

Choose a Springfield-area in-person starting point

Rocking Horse Community Health Center lists medical, behavioral-health, dental, and pharmacy services at its Springfield location and describes a sliding-fee option. Contact the center to ask whether the service you need is available there, how sliding-fee eligibility works, what current charges may apply, and whether it is accepting new patients. A facility listing is a useful starting point, not confirmation of appointment access or a particular service for an individual.

The Clark County Health Department lists public-health clinics and services at Springfield locations. Check its current service information and contact the department before visiting to confirm what is offered, whether an appointment is needed, and whether fees or payment options apply.

Mercy Health — Springfield Regional Medical Center is a Springfield hospital with emergency and other hospital services. For scheduled care, ask Mercy for an estimate and whether separate clinician charges may apply. Mercy provides estimate and financial-assistance resources; its estimates are not guaranteed final bills and may omit separately billed services.

These resources are in Springfield or at Springfield locations; they do not establish access, participation, appointment availability, or prices specifically for every person in ZIP 45504. You choose where to seek care. Before a planned visit, confirm the service, appointment, expected charges, and any participation details with the provider and relevant coverage source.

Get help understanding a bill

If a bill is unclear or seems unusually high, SakeOf can review eligibility, medical necessity, documentation, and price fairness, and may negotiate or reprice medical bills. For planned care, contact SakeOf in advance when reasonably possible. Unreasonable pricing may limit eligibility until negotiation is complete.

Keep the itemized bill with service dates, provider information, and CPT or HCPCS codes when available. SakeOf may also request medical records, clinical notes, diagnosis or procedure details, provider documentation, billing records, or a signed records release. Submit complete documents within six months of the service date. Send balance bills, denials, or payment demands within 10 days of receiving them.

For a planned higher-cost service, ask SakeOf what information it needs and what member commitment applies. Ask the provider about separate facility, clinician, lab, imaging, or follow-up charges, too. A charge already paid or discounted through an optional feature cannot be counted again as a separate sharing request unless SakeOf expressly approves an eligible remaining balance.

Plan for larger expenses and optional benefits

Under Full Service, voluntary community funding may be available for eligible medical expenses, subject to program rules. Keep membership current, meet the applicable member commitment, and submit requested records. Before significant planned care, contact SakeOf when reasonably possible to discuss review requirements and responsibilities. A provider estimate can help you plan, but it is not a guaranteed final amount.

Maternity is a community-sharing feature when offered and selected. The member must keep it continuously active for at least 12 months before conception. The stated member responsibility is $5,000 per eligible pregnancy, with community sharing up to $25,000 after that responsibility, subject to program rules.

If dental or vision discounts, chiropractic or acupuncture care, physical or occupational therapy, or durable medical equipment matters to you, check current membership options for availability and terms. Do not assume a feature applies unless it is offered, selected, active, and eligible for your situation.
