How SakeOf Works
SakeOf is a peer-to-peer healthcare community, not insurance. You pay a low monthly subscription, set your personal contribution cap, choose your provider, and receive support when you need it. Every act of care is personal, one member helping another.
Subscribe
Your subscription supports SakeOf's operations, advocacy, and member services, giving you access to care coordination, bill review, and negotiation help when you need it most.

Set Your Monthly Ask Cap
Based on your membership type and household size, your cap defines the most you may be asked to contribute in a given month toward other members' verified bills.
Help and Get Help
Your contribution funds sit safely in your SakeOf wallet. Each month, you may be matched to help fund another member's eligible bill. When you face a health event, the community contributes directly to yours.

FAQs
Is there an application fee?
Yes. A one-time $100 application fee applies and is charged separately. The fee is non-refundable and helps cover onboarding, eligibility checks, medical review, and related administrative costs.
Is there a waiting period for new members?
Yes. New members have a 90-day waiting period before new needs become eligible for community funding. This allows time for verification, onboarding, and contribution stability.
Is SakeOf insurance?
No. SakeOf is a peer-to-peer healthcare community. Members contribute directly to each otherβs verified bills based on individual caps and eligibility rules.
Can I keep my doctor?
Yes. See any licensed provider. Weβll help you compare quality and pricing, and we can work with your provider to request fair rates.
Who holds my money?
You do. Your contribution funds stay in your SakeOf wallet and are used to fund verified bills when matched. They are not commingled with subscription revenue.
How are bills verified?
We review submissions for eligibility, medical necessity, and accuracy, and we benchmark pricing. Only verified bills can be matched for funding.
What does βadvocacyβ include?
Navigation, price checks, repricing and fee negotiation, and provider coordination. We work to secure fair, transparent rates and simpler billing on your behalf.
What do I pay each month?
A subscription for tools and support, plus contributions when matched to a verified billβup to your Monthly Ask Cap for your plan and household. You may choose to give more.
What is the Monthly Ask Cap?
Your personal limit on requested contributions in any month. It sets your predictable exposure. If you change plans or age tiers, your cap may change accordingly.
How do funding requests work?
Upload bills in the app. We verify and negotiate. You cover your Member Commitment, then the remaining eligible amount is matched to community contributions and sent to your wallet.
How do I pay at checkout?
Use your SakeOf wallet or Visa debit (where accepted) to pay approved, funded expenses at time of service, helping you capture cash pricing.
Are pregnancies eligible?
Pregnancy eligibility, waiting periods, and contribution amounts depend on the membership you select. See the Membership Handbook for details.
What about pre-existing conditions?
Pre-existing conditions may be subject to waiting periods or limits. Refer to state availability and full terms in the Membership Handbook.
What if a bill isnβt fully funded right away?
We continue outreach and matching. Verified bills can also receive additional voluntary support from members who choose to give beyond their cap.
What if a provider wonβt accept the card?
You can pay out of pocket and upload the bill for verification and reimbursement through your wallet once funded.
Is SakeOf regulated like insurance?
No. SakeOf is not insurance and does not guarantee payment of medical expenses. Itβs a direct, member-to-member contribution model with verification and negotiation.
Are contributions tax-deductible?
Contributions are voluntary and generally not tax-deductible like insurance premiums. Consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
Can I use SakeOf with existing insurance?
Yes. Many members use SakeOf to help with out-of-pocket costs, non-covered services, or to access fair cash pricing outside networks.
Where is SakeOf available?
Availability can vary by state. For current availability and rules, see the Membership Handbook.
How fast are bills funded?
Once verified, most eligible bills are funded to your wallet within a few business days, depending on case complexity and matching volume.
What happens if I cancel?
You can cancel anytime. Your wallet reflects finalized transactions; Balance is automatically contributed to pending verified bills until fully exhausted.
