Questions worth answering

  • What should I compare if I pay for healthcare myself?
  • How should a self-employed family compare monthly cost with major medical risk?
  • What changes when I leave employer coverage?
  • How could SakeOf fit alongside the other options I am comparing?

How SakeOf helps

  • Compare the membership structure with the other ways you could pay for healthcare
  • Use the calculator with your actual household
  • Ask Jordan to explain SakeOf guidelines and features using approved program knowledge

How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

Start with your care need, not a payment maze

SakeOf is a healthcare membership designed to make everyday care easier to organize and medical bills easier to understand. You can begin with the care you need—a common illness, a prescription, ongoing primary care, an in-person visit, or a larger medical event—and then check which active membership features may fit.

For an eligible expense, SakeOf’s Full Service process can include bill verification, fair-price review, negotiation support, and voluntary community funding, subject to program rules and review. It is a practical path for getting help with a bill rather than trying to interpret every charge alone. The next step is to check your membership details and gather the information for the care or expense you are considering.

Use everyday care features when they fit

Zero Copay Telemedicine is designed for common, non-emergency illnesses and symptoms appropriate for a virtual visit, when the feature is active. A clinician may prescribe medication when clinically appropriate and legally permitted. If a visit leads to a recommendation for labs, imaging, specialty care, a procedure, or in-person follow-up, those are separate services to arrange with a provider. For an emergency, use emergency services.

Prescription benefits are a separate part of the everyday-care picture. Listed formulary medications may be available at $0 when the participating-pharmacy process and prescribing and dispensing requirements are met. The current formulary and pharmacy tool determine whether a particular medication is included. Non-formulary medications are not automatically $0 or automatically eligible for community funding, so check the tool before filling a prescription.

Mental Health and Counseling, when active, may include immediate problem assessment, supportive counseling, follow-up with the original counselor when available, crisis support, and referrals when more care is needed. Psychiatry and medication costs are separate unless another active benefit or program expressly includes them.

Virtual Primary Care is optional and has a $15 monthly adjustment. Its current service tier requires Rx and Prescription Benefits, Zero Copay Telemedicine, and Mental Health and Counseling to remain active. It includes virtual primary-care access, an annual virtual wellness visit with health-risk assessment, and ongoing chronic-care follow-up and medication-management support when appropriate for virtual care. Check your membership details to see whether the service and its required features are active.

Choose local in-person care in Huntington

When a virtual visit is not the right fit or you need an examination or other in-person service, you can choose a provider. Huntington-area options include Cabell Huntington Hospital at 1340 Hal Greer Blvd and St. Mary’s Medical Center at 2900 First Avenue. Both publish standard-charge information and patient-estimate tools. A facility estimate may differ from the final amount or leave out professional and ancillary charges, so ask what a particular estimate includes.

For walk-in or urgent needs, Marshall Family Medicine offers primary-care and walk-in services at Marshall University Medical Center, 1600 Medical Center Drive. CHH Family Urgent Care is at 2 Stonecrest Drive; the health system lists daily hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Posted hours and service availability can change, so confirm them directly before visiting.

HIMG, at 3075 U.S. Route 60, is an outpatient facility with multiple specialty services; hours vary by department. The Cabell-Huntington Health Department, at 703 7th Avenue, offers county public-health and clinical services including immunizations and testing. Many clinic services require appointments. Call the department to confirm the service and how to arrange a visit.

These local options give you a place to start comparing where to seek care. Ask a provider about its services, price, and payment arrangements. Use SakeOf’s provider search and check your active membership features when deciding how to proceed; provider choice alone does not establish that a specific service is eligible for a SakeOf feature.

Turn a confusing bill into a clear next step

If a medical bill seems unclear or unusually high, ask the provider for an itemized bill and an explanation of the charges. SakeOf may review eligible bills for documentation and fair pricing and may provide negotiation support through Full Service. An itemized bill should include service dates, provider information, and CPT or HCPCS codes when available.

Timing matters. Submit complete documents within six months of the service date. Submit balance bills, denials, or payment demands within 10 days of receiving them. SakeOf may also request medical records, clinical notes, diagnosis or procedure details, provider documentation, billing records, or a signed medical-record release to review eligibility, medical necessity, and fair pricing.

Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center publish charge information and estimate tools, but an estimate is not necessarily the final amount and may not include every clinician or ancillary charge. Ask the facility what its estimate covers and contact its billing office about a specific bill or payment arrangements. Know how larger eligible needs are reviewed

For a larger eligible medical event, SakeOf’s Full Service process can include bill verification, fair-price review, negotiation support, and voluntary community funding, subject to the Program Guide and review of the expense. A standard event commitment may apply. For eligible physical and occupational therapy visits under the PT/OT feature, the $35 feature-specific member responsibility replaces the standard $500 event commitment.

PT/OT services must be medically necessary and provided by an appropriately licensed therapist. The feature has a shared limit of 12 visits and a $780 annual maximum across the enrolled membership. A physician order, referral, or documented plan of care may be required when clinically appropriate or required by state law. Check whether the feature is active and whether the proposed service fits its terms before arranging care.

Eligibility review can consider an illness, injury, symptom, diagnosis, or treatment that existed, was known, or involved recommended or received medical advice or care during the 24 months before membership began—even if there was no formal diagnosis. Complete documentation helps SakeOf review the expense under the Program Guide.

Match optional features to household needs

If selected and active, the maternity feature may apply to eligible prenatal, delivery, and postpartum expenses when program requirements are met. Pregnancy must begin after the continuous 12-month waiting period is completed; adding or restoring the feature after conception does not make that pregnancy eligible. Review the feature details before relying on it for a planned pregnancy.

Other membership options may include dental and vision discounts, chiropractic or acupuncture, and durable medical equipment, depending on active selections and program terms. Start with the calculator or Savings Guide to compare options, use provider search to explore local care, or ask Jordan for help finding a next step. Check the membership options and current feature details before making plans.

Healthcare questions for Huntington

Short answers built from the same verified local research and SakeOf benefit rules used in this guide.

Can I use SakeOf telemedicine for any health concern?

Zero Copay Telemedicine is designed for common, non-emergency illnesses and symptoms appropriate for virtual care. Emergency care, specialty care, procedures, imaging, labs, and in-person follow-up are separate services, even if a clinician recommends them after a virtual visit.

Are prescriptions automatically $0 through SakeOf?

No. Listed formulary medications may be available at $0 when the participating-pharmacy process and prescribing and dispensing requirements are met. Check the current pharmacy tool for a specific medication. Non-formulary medications are not automatically $0 or eligible for community funding.

Does Mental Health and Counseling include psychiatry or medication?

Not by itself. Counseling may include assessment, supportive sessions, follow-up when available, crisis support, and referrals. Psychiatry and medication costs are separate unless another active benefit or program expressly includes them.

Does Virtual Primary Care come with every SakeOf membership?

No. Virtual Primary Care is optional and has a $15 monthly adjustment. Its current service tier requires Rx and Prescription Benefits, Zero Copay Telemedicine, and Mental Health and Counseling to remain active. Check your membership details to confirm what is selected and active.

What is the maternity waiting period?

Pregnancy must begin after a continuous 12-month maternity waiting period is completed. The feature applies only when selected and active, and eligible expenses remain subject to program requirements and limits. Adding or restoring the feature after conception does not make that pregnancy eligible.

What is the deadline for sending SakeOf documents?

Submit complete documents within six months of the service date. Submit balance bills, denials, or payment demands within 10 days of receiving them. An itemized bill is required, and SakeOf may request medical records or other supporting documentation.
