Make the comparison about your situation

The local facts stay the same. These are the pressure points and questions that matter more for this decision.

Pressure points to model

  • COBRA premium is too high
  • Coverage ending soon
  • Need continuity of care
  • Temporary coverage gap

Questions worth answering

  • What should I compare before I decline COBRA?
  • What deadlines matter after employer coverage ends?
  • How do I compare monthly cost with continuity of care?
  • Could SakeOf be one of the options I investigate?

How SakeOf helps

  • Do not position SakeOf as insurance or as a guaranteed COBRA replacement
  • Use Jordan to explain current SakeOf eligibility and program rules
  • Compare urgent timing and continuity needs before price alone

Put the COBRA number next to the alternatives

  • What is your monthly COBRA premium?
  • When does your current employer coverage end?
  • Are there prescriptions, doctors, or active care you need to preserve?

Timing matters after employer coverage ends. Compare options before a deadline forces the decision.

How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

Start with the care you need

SakeOf is a healthcare membership built around a more direct way to pay for and navigate care. Instead of making an insurance process the first step for every need, members can use available everyday-care services, choose providers, and seek support when a bill or larger medical event needs attention.

For a common, non-emergency illness or symptom, Zero Copay Telemedicine is a low-friction place to begin when the benefit is selected and active. A clinician can assess whether virtual care is appropriate. If you need an exam, lab, imaging, specialist, or other in-person service, those are separate care steps; telemedicine does not include them merely because a clinician recommends them.

For emergencies, use emergency services. A routine virtual visit or membership workflow is not the path for an emergency.

Build an everyday-care routine

When active, Zero Copay Telemedicine is designed for common non-emergency concerns. Prescriptions may be issued when clinically appropriate and legally permitted, but the price follows the active prescription program. Listed formulary medications may be available at $0 through the participating-pharmacy process when its requirements are met; check the current pharmacy tool before filling a prescription. Non-formulary medications may have a negotiated or discount price, but are not automatically $0 or eligible for community sharing.

Mental Health and Counseling can offer immediate problem assessment, supportive counseling, follow-up with the original counselor when available, crisis support, and referrals to appropriate plans or community resources when more care is needed. Psychiatry, inpatient behavioral health, emergency psychiatric care, and medication costs are not included just because counseling is active.

Virtual Primary Care is an optional service with a monthly adjustment. When active with its required bundled benefits, it provides virtual primary-care access, a dedicated physician relationship with follow-up, an annual virtual wellness visit and health-risk assessment, and chronic-care follow-up or medication-management support when appropriate for virtual care. It is a practical option for ongoing virtual support, while local in-person care may still be useful for needs that require an exam or testing.

Choose in-person care around Huntington

When you need in-person care, you choose where to seek it. In Huntington, Cabell Huntington Hospital is at 1340 Hal Greer Blvd, and St. Mary's Medical Center is at 2900 First Avenue. Both publish standard-charge information and patient-estimate tools; contact the facility about a specific service and what its estimate includes. www.cms.gov

For walk-in or urgent needs, Marshall Family Medicine offers primary-care and walk-in services at Marshall University Medical Center, 1600 Medical Center Drive. CHH Family Urgent Care is listed at 2 Stonecrest Drive, with posted daily hours of 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Confirm current hours, availability, and whether the location is appropriate for your need before going.

For county public-health services, the Cabell-Huntington Health Department at 703 7th Avenue lists clinical services including immunizations and testing. Many clinic services require appointments, so call ahead to ask about the service, scheduling, and payment arrangements. For specialty outpatient care, HIMG at 3075 U.S. Route 60 lists multiple services, with hours that vary by department.

Before scheduling any local service, ask about availability, appointment requirements, payment arrangements, and the expected charges. A hospital estimate may not include every clinician or ancillary charge, and the final amount can differ from the estimate. www.cms.gov

Get help when a bill is hard to understand

If a bill seems confusing or unexpectedly high, SakeOf’s Full Service advocacy can help members with bill verification, fair-price review, and negotiation support, subject to program rules. Keep the itemized bill and relevant provider information together; an itemized bill is required for submissions and should include service dates, provider details, and CPT or HCPCS codes when available.

Complete documentation is due within six months of the service date. If you receive a balance bill, denial, or payment demand, submit it within 10 days of receiving it. SakeOf may also request records or billing details to review eligibility, medical necessity, and fair pricing. Start with the Savings Guide or ask Jordan what information to gather.

Understand support for larger eligible events

For a larger eligible medical event, the process can include review of the bills and records, an applicable member commitment, and voluntary community funding for eligible expenses under program rules. The exact requirements depend on the event and membership terms; review the Program Guide and use SakeOf’s support resources to understand the steps before submitting expenses.

For maternity, potentially eligible expenses include routine prenatal visits, medically necessary prenatal testing, standard diagnostic ultrasounds, delivery charges, and routine pregnancy-related postpartum care through six weeks after delivery. Pregnancy must begin after the continuous 12-month maternity waiting period is complete, and the benefit has a maternity sharing limit. If maternity is relevant to your planning, check the Program Guide for the full terms before making decisions.

Check options that fit your care plan

Physical and occupational therapy may be eligible when medically necessary and provided by an appropriately licensed therapist. The feature has a shared limit of 12 visits and a $780 annual maximum across the enrolled membership. For eligible visits under this feature, the $35 feature-specific member responsibility replaces the standard $500 event commitment. A physician order, referral, or documented plan of care may be required.

To plan your next step, use the calculator to explore membership options, review the Savings Guide for how care and bills work, and use provider search to consider where you might go locally. If you have a question about your situation, ask Jordan. Confirm services, hours, estimates, and payment arrangements directly with the Huntington provider you plan to contact.
