Make the comparison about your situation

The local facts stay the same. These are the pressure points and questions that matter more for this decision.

Pressure points to model

  • Paying the full healthcare bill yourself
  • No employer contribution
  • Family healthcare costs
  • Unclear alternatives to traditional insurance

Questions worth answering

  • What should I compare if I pay for healthcare myself?
  • How should a self-employed family compare monthly cost with major medical risk?
  • What changes when I leave employer coverage?
  • How could SakeOf fit alongside the other options I am comparing?

How SakeOf helps

  • Compare the membership structure with the other ways you could pay for healthcare
  • Use the calculator with your actual household
  • Ask Jordan to explain SakeOf guidelines and features using approved program knowledge

Start with the numbers you control

  • What are you paying each month now?
  • How many people need healthcare?
  • What would a major medical event need to look like financially for you to feel protected?

Use your actual household and compare total exposure, not just the monthly amount.

How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

Build your care plan around the need at hand

SakeOf is a healthcare membership intended to make it more straightforward to navigate everyday care and eligible medical expenses. Rather than beginning with one required provider route, members can use active everyday-care options when they fit, choose a local provider for in-person services, and turn to SakeOf for help reviewing eligible bills or a larger medical event.

Start by identifying what you need: advice for a common illness, a prescription, continuing primary-care support, counseling, an examination or test, or help understanding a bill. Your available services depend on the membership options selected and active, and each has its own requirements. The calculator can help you explore options; the provider search can help you look for care that fits your needs.

Use everyday services when virtual care fits

Zero Copay Telemedicine is intended for common, non-emergency illnesses and symptoms appropriate for virtual care. Provider availability, technology, state law, clinical appropriateness, and prescribing rules still apply. A clinician may recommend a test, imaging, specialist, procedure, or in-person follow-up; a telemedicine consultation does not itself include those services. For an emergency, seek emergency care.

The prescription benefit is designed primarily for medicines commonly prescribed for acute conditions. A medicine on the current formulary may be available at $0 when the participating-pharmacy process and prescribing and dispensing requirements are met. Check the current pharmacy tool before filling it. Non-formulary medicines are not automatically $0 or eligible for community funding; chronic-maintenance and specialty medicines require another active program that expressly includes them.

If Mental Health and Counseling is active, support may include an initial problem assessment, supportive counseling and follow-up sessions, crisis support, and referrals when more care is needed. Psychiatry, inpatient behavioral health, emergency psychiatric care, and medication costs are separate unless another active benefit expressly includes them.

Add ongoing virtual primary-care support if it suits you

Virtual Primary Care is an optional feature with an additional $15 monthly adjustment. It offers $0 virtual primary-care access through the current service partner, an ongoing physician relationship, an annual virtual wellness visit and health-risk assessment, and chronic-care follow-up or medication-management support when appropriate for virtual care. The required bundled services—Rx and Prescription Benefits, Zero Copay Telemedicine, and Mental Health and Counseling—must remain active.

Virtual care can be a useful starting point, but it does not determine which local in-person services you choose. If a clinician recommends an examination or another service, ask the provider what it involves and how its charges and payment arrangements work.

Choose in-person care in Huntington

For primary-care and walk-in services, Marshall Family Medicine is located at Marshall University Medical Center, 1600 Medical Center Drive, Huntington. Confirm current hours and availability before visiting. www.cms.gov

CHH Family Urgent Care is listed at 2 Stonecrest Drive, Huntington, with daily hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; check directly before going because hours and access can change. Huntington also has hospital services at Cabell Huntington Hospital, 1340 Hal Greer Boulevard, and St. Mary’s Medical Center, 2900 First Avenue. Both facilities publish standard-charge information and patient estimate tools. Ask what a specific estimate includes: clinician and ancillary charges may be separate, and the final amount can differ from an estimate. www.cms.gov

For county public-health services, the Cabell-Huntington Health Department lists clinical programs including immunizations and testing. Many clinic services require appointments, so contact the department to confirm current services and scheduling. Provider availability, payment arrangements, and service details should be checked with the location directly.

Get help understanding an eligible bill

For eligible expenses submitted through the program, Full Service advocacy can support bill verification, fair-price review, and negotiation. Keep an itemized bill with service dates, provider information, and CPT or HCPCS codes when available. SakeOf may also request medical records, clinical notes, billing records, or other documentation to review eligibility, medical necessity, and pricing.

Submit complete documents within six months of the service date. Submit a balance bill, denial, or payment demand within 10 days of receiving it. For a Huntington facility bill, contact the billing office as well: ask what the balance covers, whether payment arrangements are available, and whether financial counselors can discuss your questions.

Know the process for a larger eligible medical event

A larger eligible event may involve a $500 member commitment and voluntary community funding, subject to eligibility, documentation, and program rules. Funding is voluntary, so do not assume an expense will receive community support before the required review. Gather estimates and records, request itemized bills, and contact SakeOf to understand the next steps.

Eligible physical and occupational therapy visits under the PT/OT feature have a different $35 feature-specific member responsibility. When active and eligible, the feature allows up to 12 visits and a $780 annual maximum shared across the enrolled membership. Services must be medically necessary and provided by an appropriately licensed therapist; a physician order, referral, or plan of care may be required.

Explore options and take a practical next step

If you are planning for maternity, the selected and active feature has a continuous 12-month waiting period that must be completed before pregnancy begins. It has a sharing limit and other eligibility rules, so review its terms before relying on it for planned care.

Depending on the membership options active, dental and vision discounts, chiropractic and acupuncture, and durable medical equipment may also be available. Check the applicable terms and costs before using a service. To explore your choices, use the calculator, read the Savings Guide, and search for a provider. Ask Jordan about how a SakeOf service works; contact a local facility for current hours, estimates, and payment arrangements.
