Make the comparison about your situation

The local facts stay the same. These are the pressure points and questions that matter more for this decision.

Pressure points to model

  • Paying the full healthcare bill yourself
  • No employer contribution
  • Family healthcare costs
  • Unclear alternatives to traditional insurance

Questions worth answering

  • What should I compare if I pay for healthcare myself?
  • How should a self-employed family compare monthly cost with major medical risk?
  • What changes when I leave employer coverage?
  • How could SakeOf fit alongside the other options I am comparing?

How SakeOf helps

  • Compare the membership structure with the other ways you could pay for healthcare
  • Use the calculator with your actual household
  • Ask Jordan to explain SakeOf guidelines and features using approved program knowledge

Start with the numbers you control

  • What are you paying each month now?
  • How many people need healthcare?
  • What would a major medical event need to look like financially for you to feel protected?

Use your actual household and compare total exposure, not just the monthly amount.

How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

Start with the care you need

SakeOf is a healthcare membership designed to make care easier to arrange and healthcare costs easier to understand. Members can use selected direct-service and discount features, get help reviewing bills, and—through Full Service—seek advocacy and voluntary community funding for eligible medical expenses.

A useful first step is to identify the need: a new symptom, a prescription question, ongoing primary care, an in-person visit, or a larger planned expense. Then check which SakeOf features are selected and active and choose a care route that fits. Use the calculator or Savings Guide to explore membership options, and use provider search or Jordan when you need help planning a next step.

Use everyday-care options when they fit

For a routine health question, Zero Copay Telemedicine is a direct-service option when selected and active. If a clinician recommends a test, an in-person examination, or another service, confirm how that care will be arranged and priced; labs, imaging, specialist visits, and in-person follow-up can have separate costs.

Rx and Prescription Benefits are designed primarily for medications commonly prescribed for acute conditions. A listed formulary medication may be available at $0 when the participating-pharmacy process and program requirements are met. Check the current pharmacy tool before filling a prescription: a non-formulary medicine may have a negotiated or discount price, but it is not automatically $0 or eligible for community sharing.

Mental Health and Counseling may offer immediate problem assessment, supportive counseling, follow-up when available, and crisis support. If more care is needed, referrals to behavioral-health plans or community resources may be available. Psychiatry, inpatient behavioral health, emergency psychiatric care, and medication costs are not included merely because counseling is active.

Virtual Primary Care is an optional service with a dedicated physician relationship, ongoing virtual follow-up support, an annual virtual wellness visit, and chronic-care follow-up or medication-management support when clinically appropriate. The current service tier requires Rx and Prescription Benefits, Zero Copay Telemedicine, and Mental Health and Counseling to remain active, and adds $15 per month.

Find in-person care near Duck

Community Care of West Virginia lists the Big Otter Elementary school-based health center at 59 Ossia Road in Duck, with posted Tuesday hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and phone number 304-286-2838. The provider describes its school-based centers as offering preventive and primary care to students and faculty on a school campus. Call to confirm who may access this location, current hours, available services, appointment arrangements, and charges before making the trip.

For another local option, Community Care of Clay lists primary care, chronic-disease management, walk-in care, a pharmacy, immunizations, family planning, and breast and cervical cancer screening. It lists weekday and weekend hours; contact the clinic to verify current availability, services, pharmacy arrangements, and prices. The Clay County Health Department is another county resource for public-health and clinical services, including vaccination and family planning. Ask the department directly about current services and fees.

Choosing an in-person provider remains part of the care path. Before a visit, ask what the appointment will cost, whether separate lab or imaging charges may apply, and how payment works. SakeOf provider search can help you explore options, but confirm availability and arrangements with the provider.

Get help when a bill is hard to understand

When a bill seems confusing or unexpectedly high, Full Service advocacy can help members review itemized bills, verify charges, and seek fair-price review and negotiation support. Keep the bill and related records, submit complete documentation promptly, and contact SakeOf in advance for planned higher-cost care when reasonably possible.

For larger eligible medical expenses, Full Service may also include voluntary community funding, subject to the program’s rules and review. An applicable member commitment remains the member’s responsibility, and funding is not guaranteed. Review the Program Guide for the requirements that apply to your membership and the specific expense.

Plan ahead for household needs

If maternity care is relevant, the optional maternity feature is available with Full Service when offered and selected. It has a 12-month continuous active-membership and feature requirement before conception, a $5,000 member responsibility per eligible pregnancy, and community sharing of up to $25,000 per eligible pregnancy after that responsibility. Eligibility and other program rules apply; review the current Program Guide before planning care.

For other household needs, check current membership materials for the options available to you rather than assuming a service is included. Features apply only when selected, active, eligible, and used according to their rules. For state program questions, WV PATH provides screening and applications for Medicaid and WVCHIP; eligibility and benefits vary by program. bms.wv.gov
