Make the comparison about your situation

The local facts stay the same. These are the pressure points and questions that matter more for this decision.

Pressure points to model

  • Paying the full healthcare bill yourself
  • No employer contribution
  • Family healthcare costs
  • Unclear alternatives to traditional insurance

Questions worth answering

  • What should I compare if I pay for healthcare myself?
  • How should a self-employed family compare monthly cost with major medical risk?
  • What changes when I leave employer coverage?
  • How could SakeOf fit alongside the other options I am comparing?

How SakeOf helps

  • Compare the membership structure with the other ways you could pay for healthcare
  • Use the calculator with your actual household
  • Ask Jordan to explain SakeOf guidelines and features using approved program knowledge

Start with the numbers you control

  • What are you paying each month now?
  • How many people need healthcare?
  • What would a major medical event need to look like financially for you to feel protected?

Use your actual household and compare total exposure, not just the monthly amount.

How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

Start with the care you need

SakeOf puts practical support at the center of the healthcare experience: help finding a care path, options for everyday needs, and advocacy when a bill or price is difficult to sort out. Rather than starting with a payment form, start with the question in front of you: Do you need help with a new health concern, ongoing care, a prescription, or a service that requires an in-person provider?

Your membership options determine which services are active for you. The calculator and Savings Guide can help you understand the program and compare your options; provider search can help you begin looking for care. For questions about how a service works, ask Jordan or review the membership options before you schedule.

Use everyday-care options when they fit

For a new health concern that can appropriately be addressed remotely, Zero Copay Telemedicine may offer a convenient starting point when selected and active. A clinician can assess the concern and advise on next steps. A prescription, lab test, imaging, specialist visit, or in-person follow-up may be a separate service, so confirm how that next step is handled.

Virtual Primary Care may be useful for ongoing primary-care needs when that option is selected and active. Prescription benefits are designed primarily for medications commonly prescribed for acute conditions. A medication is available at $0 only when it is included on the current formulary and the participating-pharmacy process and prescribing and dispensing requirements are met. Check the current pharmacy tool before filling a prescription; non-formulary and ongoing maintenance medications may have a cost or require another active program.

Mental-health counseling, when selected and active, may include problem assessment, supportive counseling, follow-up when available, and crisis support. If more care is needed, referrals to behavioral-health plans or local community resources may be part of the service. Psychiatry, inpatient behavioral-health care, emergency psychiatric care, and medication costs are not automatically included through counseling. For an emergency, seek emergency care rather than relying on a routine telemedicine or membership workflow.

Find in-person care and check local details

SakeOf members can choose providers based on the care they need. If you need an exam, laboratory work, imaging, specialty care, or hospital services, confirm directly with the provider that the service is available, whether the provider participates in any applicable program, and what charges you can expect. A directory or price list is a starting point, not a confirmed appointment or an individual estimate.

The Portage County Combined General Health District lists Deerfield Township among the communities it serves and has nursing and WIC divisions. Contact the district to confirm current services, schedules, eligibility, and fees. UH Portage Medical Center is in Ravenna, not Deerfield, and lists emergency, imaging, laboratory, and specialty services. Its price-estimate resources can help you research a planned service; confirm the provider, service, and expected patient responsibility directly.

Portage County Job & Family Services provides Medicaid application links, phone application assistance, and county office information. County resource guides cover health, mental-health, transportation, and other services, and identify 2-1-1 as a resource-navigation option. Check with the county or the relevant provider for current procedures and availability.

Get help when a bill is hard to understand

When costs are confusing, Full Service advocacy can help members with bill verification, fair-price review, and negotiation support. Provide the documents requested so the team can review the service, billing details, and applicable program rules. An itemized bill should include service dates, provider information, and CPT or HCPCS codes when available. Other records or clinical documentation may also be requested.

Submit complete documents within six months of the service date. If you receive a balance bill, denial, or payment demand, submit it within 10 days of receiving it. These deadlines give the review team information to work with; they do not guarantee a particular outcome or price. Ask what member responsibility applies to the service before assuming an expense will be handled a certain way.

Understand support for larger eligible events

For a larger eligible medical expense, the process combines review under the program rules with voluntary member-to-member community funding. An applicable member commitment may apply before an eligible expense is considered for community funding. The amount and treatment depend on the event and membership terms; a request is reviewed rather than promised a particular result. Keep provider bills and records together, and use advocacy to understand what the review requires.

If symptoms, an illness, an injury, a diagnosis, or recommended or received care existed during the 24 months before membership began, it may be considered during pre-existing-condition review, even without a formal diagnosis. Final eligibility depends on documentation, clinical review, and the Program Guide. Ask Jordan or consult the guide about how the rules apply before planning around a particular expense.

Consider other options for your household

If maternity support matters to your planning, the maternity feature has a continuous 12-month waiting period that must be completed before pregnancy begins. Eligible maternity services remain subject to the maternity limit and program rules; adding or restoring the feature after conception does not make that pregnancy eligible. Check the current guide for timing and newborn requirements.

Dental and vision options work through discounts at participating providers, with the member paying the provider directly; discounts vary and are not guaranteed at every provider. Chiropractic and acupuncture services may be available under applicable program terms, while related imaging or other medical services are separate expenses. Medically necessary PT or OT from an appropriately licensed therapist may be considered under its feature: it has a shared 12-visit limit and $780 annual maximum, with a $35 feature-specific member responsibility for eligible visits. Durable medical equipment such as a prescribed walker, wheelchair, brace, or CPAP machine may also be considered when medically necessary and ordered by a qualified provider.

Choose your next step
