How members use SakeOf in real life

Local facts are one part of the decision. These stories show what it looks like after joining.

Start with the care you need

SakeOf is a healthcare membership designed to make arranging care and understanding medical costs more straightforward. Instead of beginning every decision with a coverage question, start with the practical one: what kind of care do you need, and what is the simplest appropriate way to get it?

For a common concern that can be handled remotely, selected and active telemedicine may be a convenient first step. For recurring health questions, Virtual Primary Care offers a dedicated physician relationship and ongoing virtual follow-up when that feature is active and the care is appropriate for virtual service. If you need an examination, lab, imaging, specialist, or other local service, you can choose a provider and confirm the details directly.

Build an everyday-care routine

Zero Copay Telemedicine is an optional feature. When selected and active under the program rules, it provides access to the current telemedicine service partner. A remote visit may help with an appropriate everyday concern; it does not determine whether you need an in-person examination or another service.

Virtual Primary Care is another optional feature, priced at an additional $15 per month. When active, it includes $0 virtual primary-care access, a dedicated physician relationship, an annual virtual wellness visit, a health-risk assessment, and chronic-care follow-up and medication-management support when clinically appropriate for virtual care. This feature requires Rx and Prescription Benefits, Zero Copay Telemedicine, and Mental Health and Counseling to remain active.

Rx and Prescription Benefits is an optional $10 monthly feature. Check the applicable program details for how it works for a specific medication. A prescription visit does not, by itself, settle the cost or eligibility of a medication: medication costs can remain separate, and a non-formulary medication may not be handled the same way as one included under applicable program terms.

Mental Health and Counseling is an optional $6 monthly feature. When selected, active, and available through the current service, it includes unlimited on-demand telephonic counseling at $0 and 24/7 access to master's-level counseling professionals for the member and eligible enrolled dependents. Up to three face-to-face consultations per incident may be arranged when available through the program. Psychiatry, inpatient behavioral health, emergency psychiatric care, residential substance-use treatment, and medication costs are not automatically included with counseling.

Use Cincinnati care when you need an in-person visit

If you need local primary or dental care, the Cincinnati Health Department lists six community health centers and gives 513-357-7320 for appointment inquiries. Call to confirm which center offers the service you need and whether appointments are available. The city listing is a starting point, not a guarantee of an appointment or a particular charge.

For certain public-health needs, Hamilton County Public Health lists STI/HIV testing and treatment, tuberculosis services, and Children with Medical Handicaps support at its clinic at 5050 Section Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45212; the listed phone number is 513-946-7610. Confirm current services, eligibility, arrangements, and any fees with the clinic before going.

For hospital or specialist care, Cincinnati has locations listed by regional systems including UC Health and TriHealth. Choose a provider based on the service you need, then contact the provider to verify availability and ask for an estimate. Before scheduled care, confirm participation and expected charges with the provider and the applicable program or coverage source. Labs, imaging, in-person follow-up, specialist care, and medications may involve separate costs.

Make a confusing bill easier to examine

When a bill arrives, SakeOf’s bill-support process can help you understand what information is needed for review. An itemized bill is required for submissions and should show service dates, provider information, and CPT or HCPCS codes when available. SakeOf may request clinical notes, medical records, diagnosis or procedure details, provider documentation, or a signed release to assess eligibility, medical necessity, and fair pricing.

Submit complete documentation within six months of the service date. If you receive a balance bill, denial, or payment demand, submit it within 10 days of receipt. For planned higher-cost care, contact SakeOf in advance when reasonably possible. Keep your membership current, meet the applicable member commitment or feature-specific responsibility, and provide requested documents promptly.

Reviewing a bill can help clarify the charges and support fair-price review and negotiation assistance where applicable. It does not guarantee a particular price or outcome. For hospital services, UC Health provides patient pricing information and a way to request an estimate; TriHealth describes financial assistance and financial-counseling contacts. Ask the relevant provider or system about current estimates, assistance requirements, and eligibility.

Plan for a larger eligible medical event

For a larger event, the practical sequence is to contact SakeOf in advance when possible, confirm what information is needed, and keep provider records and itemized bills together. Eligible expenses are considered under the program rules and the applicable member commitment. Voluntary community funding may be available for larger eligible events, but it is not promised and depends on program terms and the review of the event.

Membership features and sharing eligibility depend on being active and meeting applicable requirements. Confirm how a planned service will be handled before it begins whenever you reasonably can; provider estimates and direct confirmation can help you understand possible charges, but they do not guarantee a final bill.

Choose extra options around your needs

Other optional features include Maternity Care (+$18 per month), Chiropractic and Acupuncture (+$14), Physical and Occupational Therapy (+$11), Durable Medical Equipment (+$7), and Dental and Vision Discounts (+$9). Each applies only when selected, active, eligible, and otherwise subject to program rules. Check the applicable terms before scheduling or purchasing.

Dental and Vision Discounts work through participating providers, with the member paying the provider directly at the applicable discounted rate. Discounts vary by provider, location, service, and vendor terms, and are not guaranteed at every provider. Ask the provider about its current arrangement and price before receiving care or buying products.
