SakeOf is a healthcare membership designed to make the first steps in care more direct: use an appropriate everyday-care option when it fits, choose a provider for in-person care, and get help understanding a bill when costs become complicated. Instead of beginning every care decision with an insurance process, members can consider the service they need and the membership features they have selected.
For a common, non-emergency illness or symptom, active Zero Copay Telemedicine offers unlimited medically appropriate urgent-care consultations by phone or video, subject to clinician availability and clinical suitability. For an emergency, seek emergency care rather than relying on a routine telemedicine or membership process.
With Zero Copay Telemedicine active, a member can request urgent-care help for common concerns that can appropriately be handled virtually. A clinician may prescribe medication when it is clinically appropriate and legally permitted. If a prescription is issued, the cost depends on the active prescription benefit and whether the medication and pharmacy meet its current requirements.
Rx and Prescription Benefits are designed primarily for medications commonly prescribed for acute conditions. A medication on the active formulary may be available at $0 when the participating-pharmacy, prescribing, and dispensing rules are met. Check the current pharmacy tool before filling a prescription; a non-formulary medication is not automatically $0 or eligible for community sharing.
If selected and active, Mental Health and Counseling offers 24/7 access to telephonic counseling, with up to three face-to-face counseling consultations per incident when arranged and available. Virtual Primary Care, available in its specified bundled tier when prerequisites remain active, provides virtual primary-care access, a dedicated physician relationship, an annual wellness visit, and follow-up support when virtual care is clinically appropriate. These services can help with ongoing questions, but they do not make labs, imaging, in-person follow-up, or specialty care part of a virtual visit.
The CMS service locator lists the YKHC Chefornak Community Health Clinic at 102 Village Road, with a phone number of (907) 867-8919 and fax number of (907) 867-8717. Call the clinic or YKHC to confirm current services, availability, appointments, and referral steps before making plans. www.cms.gov
YKHC describes a regional system of village clinics, five sub-regional clinics, and a hospital in Bethel serving rural southwest Alaska communities. What is available at a village clinic can differ from services at regional facilities, and some specialty care may require referral and travel. Ask the treating provider where the needed service can be received and what arrangements to confirm. www.cms.gov
SakeOf members retain provider choice for in-person care. Before scheduling a lab, imaging study, specialist visit, procedure, or hospital service, confirm the provider’s availability and ask for an estimate of charges. Those services and any recommended in-person follow-up are separate care decisions; telemedicine access alone does not include them. If you also use Medicaid, check provider participation and applicable approval requirements directly with the provider.
When a bill is difficult to interpret, keep the itemized bill and any related payment demand, denial, or balance bill. SakeOf may request service dates, provider information, CPT or HCPCS codes when available, and additional records or documentation to review eligibility, medical necessity, and fair pricing. Submit complete documents within six months of the service date; submit balance bills, denials, or payment demands within 10 days of receiving them.
For planned higher-cost care, contact SakeOf in advance when reasonably possible and ask what information is needed. To compare local or regional charges, YKHC provides cost information, and Alaska publishes provider and facility procedure-price disclosures. Estimates and posted standard charges are not necessarily a person’s final cost, so ask the provider to explain what applies to your planned service. health.alaska.gov
Full Service has a standard event commitment of $500 in its standard configuration; enrollment may offer choices of $500, $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000, and the selected enrollment summary controls. After the applicable commitment, eligible larger events may be considered for community sharing under the program rules. Eligibility and the amount considered depend on the event and its documentation; do not assume an expense will be shared.
Keep your membership current, fund required asks, and provide the requested records promptly. If you have symptoms or received advice, diagnosis, or treatment in the 24 months before membership begins, that history may matter in the pre-existing-condition review even without a formal diagnosis. The Program Guide and clinical review determine eligibility.
Some households may want additional options. Maternity is a Full Service feature only when offered, selected, active, and eligible; it has a continuous 12-month waiting period before conception, a $5,000 member responsibility per eligible pregnancy, and a sharing limit of up to $25,000 after that responsibility. Major Medical Only does not include maternity unless SakeOf expressly states otherwise.
Dental and vision discounts, chiropractic or acupuncture, physical or occupational therapy, and durable medical equipment may also be relevant options. Their availability, member responsibilities, and rules depend on the current membership offering. Review the applicable feature terms rather than assuming an expense is included.
